Delivery :)

Exciting, exciting, I just got a delivery! 2 books: The Art of Couture Sewing and Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion. Loves it! J'adore reading through beautiful books that are jam-packed with inspiring photographs of clothes, art and everything. Books don't need to be boring, they can simply be a great read, something that gets you excited and creates an atmosphere. What are your indulgences?

Lounge To The Music

So as Missy Elliott sang "Music makes you lose control" well with these cd's there's no need. Like the cd's say it's lounge music, my favorite when in the right mood :) I absolutely love the Italian Café cd. It's like an immediate escape to a world far, far away from Beijing. Although I love Beijing at times, there are times when I just need to get away. With this music, I can see myself sitting at a table at a cosy little café with a delicious cappuccino in hand and a fresh blueberry muffin.

Just Another Monday

Although it's only Monday there is no way that I'm going to let that get in my way of becoming the uber fabulous fashionista that I'm destined to be. Even a ferocious beast needs to pass high school science. Therefore my Monday night will be spent inside yet again however, this time instead of reading a delicious Japanese magazine it will be my textbook :(

Instead of letting the studying get me down, I figured it was time to light some of my extravagant candles and just get jiggy with it. Hopefully my Buddha will give me the power, strength and wisdom to ace my test. Wish me luck!

A Taste of Dubai

Like I've said before and like I'll be heard saying again and again, I love getting presents but then again who doesn't! My treat, fashion magazines and tasty snacks fresh from Dubai. How exciting! It's such a thrill exposing oneself to diverse reading as well as taste :)

At first I was kind of afraid to try Puranmal's Khajoor Barfi. I didn't know what it was, and the picture on the packet was no help at all. It turned out that they were delicious though and super healthy too. Like a miniture power bar packed with almonds, pistachios, cashewnuts and dates. So if you're ever in Dubai, the snacks come with strong support. Yum!

Chocolate & Flowers

So I don't know what you darlings like to do on a dark, almost rainy Saturday but I've decided to stay in today. Many think staying in can be very dull, but each time I'm home I try to celebrate, relax, and just enjoy myself. This means curling up under my fluffy Jim Thompson throw and catching up with the latest magazines such as the Japanese fashion magazine So-En which arrived fresh off the boat yesterday :) To keep me company I also have a new box of my favorite Godiva chocolates and some fantasy-like pink roses. What do you like to do when staying in?

The Swedish Fashion Performance

Before the Swedish Fashion Exhibition began there was a modern dance performance at the Yan Club to show off both some interpretive dancing and some avant-garde clothes that worked in harmony, complementing the Swedish Fashion Exhibition. The choreography was done by well-renowned Chinese choreographer Jin Xing who had brought along dancers from the Jin Xing Dance Theatre Shanghai especially for the performance. There was also a solo performance delivered by dancer Virpi Pahkinen and the show featured live music composed by DJ Andreas Kleerup and Andreas Unge. The show was really amazing and provided such a cool atmosphere!

Swedish Fashion

While at 798 Art District, I not only checked out the latest art installations, sculptures, and paintings but also got a sneak peek at the latest fashion display at White Box Museum of Art. It was Swedish Fashion that had finally reached Beijing, the last stop of their travelling showcase. I was given an exclusive look inside before the exhibition opened. Here you too can get a sneek peek and enjoy some of the clothes that will soon be on display.

798

Hi everyone! How have you all been? Apologies for the long intermission but yikes there has been sooo much work to do! School work is piled up to the ceiling and exams are creeping closer every minute. Between my hard work I found time to visit 798, the scandalous art district here in Beijing, notorious for big names and statement pieces. Here is just a fraction of the art, and the overall atmosphere.

What do you all think? Is it different from the art going on in your community? I absolutely love the first picture here, the man with the horse and owl. It's sooo smooth, calm, and peaceful - really powerful. What's your favorite?
