Nicolai Bergmann

While out and about in Copenhagen, I stumbled upon the international flower designer Nicolai Bergmann's boutique.

Both within and outside of the boutique there were endless fascinating displays and color combinations. Having worked for several years in Japan, I can see where Bergmann gets much of his inspiration from.

Exploring Copenhagen

Stepping outside of Copenhagen airport, I couldn't wait to get out and explore.

What fascinates me the most is always the amazing skies that I see when I visit Europe and I can't seem to get enough! Either way, getting wet was not on my agenda!

Right at the heart of the city center was a small port/canal. Surrounding it were cute picturesque buildings in what I believe to be a traditional Danish style.

Royal Vintage

Who's got the hots for vintage? I stopped by the royal palace in order to spot several pieces of history on display in the Royal Vintage exhibition.

There were plenty of gorgeous frocks on show and I couldn't help but admiring the amount of time and craftsmanship that went into making these finely tailored garments.

I simply couldn't resist posing in a fabulous gown myself, and therefore try my own hand at being my own personal royalty. I do declare, it worked out perfectly!

I even recieved my own horse drawn carriage!

Yacht Lovin'

My search for luxury must certainly appear endless, but could there be a more stylish way to travel? I think not! An extravagant lifestyle is simply a must!

It is a 60m yacht that can reach a top speed of 15, 5 knots. What a cozy place to enjoy the surroundings and gaze at the sky!

Svindersvik

Yesterday I checked out the glamorous summer residence Svindersvik, a well preserved 18th-century oasis, styled in Rococo decor. I couldn't help but fall in love with the large dazzling chandeliers, soft pastel colored silks, and well adorned mirrors.

Reow!

Mapplethorpe

At the Fotografiska Museum in Stockholm I saw photographer Robert Mapplethorpe's exhibition, which featured amazing portraits, still lifes, and nudes.

His photographs depict the wonders of bare muscular men and their bodies while exploring new perspectives combined with remarkable poses.

The exhibition featured an intense atmosphere combined with tremendous skill by the photographer.

Hallwylska

Let me tell you REOW! I'm ready to relocate immediately to this fantastic luxury villa situated perfectly, right in the city. I visited the tremendous vision of Countess von Hallwyl who was one of Sweden's foremost collectors of arts, crafts, and porcelain.

The magnificent residence featured a large dining room, salon, smoking room, weapon's room, billiard room and porcelain room.

Wilhelmina von Hallwyl's paintings were numerous to say the least! Endless lovely portraits were hung around the many rooms.

The opulent upper-class residence in central Stockholm showcased an exceptional decor as well as a vast courtyard. The Hallwyl Museum was tremendous, an absolute must see! It took my breath away!

Rosendals

Had a fabulous lunch at Rosendal's Gardens. If anyone dares try it sometime I suggest you take caution of the fierce little birds that rule the school. This little one managed to find its home in a garden salad.

Lars Wallin

Continuing my cultural trip around Stockholm's hottest museums and exhibitions, I swang by Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde to check out couture designer Lars Wallin's show Fashion Stories.

The exhibition was amazing! It was a vast showcase of 150+ garments including some gorgeous accessories as well.

There was also a tremendous range. I especially enjoyed the costumes section which showcased garments designed and worn by celebrities during concerts, dramatic performances and endless redcarpet walks. One of my favorite pieces was in fact this one, I couldn't help but fall for the big dramatic feather and glitter hat. The exhibition was an absolute must see so if any of my fellow jet setters feel like stopping by Stockholm I would strongly advise you to check it out.

Vaxholm

Ship ahoy! Spent the day in Vaxholm drooling over the deliciously large yachts and other beautiful boats in the harbor.

Diana Orving / Martin Bergström

Yesterday I stopped by Gustavbergs Konsthall and the exhibition by Swedish avant-garde fashion designers Diana Orving and Martin Bergström.

Diana Orving, Spaces

Orving was especially fascinated by draping techniques and showed a keen interest towards textiles. The fabric installation was dressed in order to project images that personify life and form of the garment.

Installation with photos by Thomas Klementsson and inspired by Martin Bergström's Sandbox.

Stockholm

The city was glittering as the sun burnt on brightly. The clear blue skies were a fête!

Apparently this is a graduation tradition here in Sweden. That on the day you graduate from high school you are later driven around town in old fashioned cars or big trucks filled with other graduates celebrating.

Downtown Stockholm, Nybrokajen.

Time Travel

Walking down the streets of Stockholm felt almost like taking a trip through time. The buildings were old and classical almost even romantic as I imagine Paris.

I stopped by Östermalmshallen which is a 19th century food market. Yum, there I treated myself to a viciously delicious cinnamon bun.

Everything looked picture perfect!

Gunilla Ponten

Upon arriving in Sweden late last night I decided to take a stroll through the streets of central Stockholm to explore this morning.

And what did I find!?! Two fabulous hats to help me accessorize my outfits with at the ultra hip boutique Gunilla Ponten.

The shop was filled with fun and funky textiles with big quirky graphics. I believe she was channeling a stylish dramatic rocker chic. The colors were bold black and white in contrasting effects with a quick flash of hot pink. I especially liked the origami cranes hanging in the display, it reminded me so much of the fashion displays in Tokyo.

Wang Jianwei

After my recent visit to artist Wang Jianwei's studio, it was fun to see the final product of his finished works exhibited at the Ullens gallery.

Yellow Signal, as the exhibition is titled has been shown in four seperate chapters in order to show an evolving process. Yellow Signal is about the familiar yellow traffic light and how it is both a signal and signifier. Resting in between red and green, the yellow light also shows permission and prohibition. Lately this has been a very hot topic among Chinese artists who continue to push the boundaries themselves, not only on permission and prohibition but also as to what can be considered art. In this exhibition Wang Jianwei shows that he is not afraid to explore different medias as his exhibition was comprised of film, furniture, and other installations. I loved the fun and funky geometric cabinets!

Su Zhiguang

In the "Curated by..." section of the Ullens gallery was the exhibition In Drift by emerging Chinese artist Su Zhiguang. Su uses the unlikely material of dust as both a medium and metaphor, a substance symbolic of the fluidity and chaos of China's modern cities. Every image is a summary of a unique individual perspective. The artwork showed subtle delicately detailed images that were hidden underneath a thin layer of dust.

Li Hui

At the Ullens Gallery in 798 art district artist Li Hui put on a show of futuristic light sculptures entitled V. "His dazzling special effects are the stuff of science fiction; his themes eternal"- Jérôme Sans. V acts as a brief glimpse into an unfathomable, inexpressible, terrifying post-human future which seems only suitable as Li Hui "believe[s] in mental communication rather than verbal explanation".

Personally, I'm a big fan of pink and couldn't help but love the exciting flashes of dazzling light. The atmosphere was intense like no other; set against a pitch black isolated backdrop.

CAFA Art Museum

Yesterday I stopped by the Central Academy of Fine Art's Museum in order to check out their latest collection from the Uffizi Gallery. There was a variety of painting genres including landscapes, still life and portrait paintings.

The collection of the Uffizi Gallery was large featuring artists such as the world famous Titian, Botticelli and Tintoretto.

There was also an exhibition on The Soul of a Nation-Revolutionary and Historical Themes in Painting on display in the gallery above which I accidentally stumbled upon. I just can't believe the vast size of these galleries!
