I Can Do It All

London's next top model? Kaboom, I CAN do it all, just add it to my never ending resume! I'm fabulous and I'm owning it! Super exciting, this is actually the outcome from one of the projects we did here at college in which I designed and produced as well as modelled my own garment in this photoshoot. Loving it!

Hummingbird Bakery

I simply adore experimenting and tasting new fabulous baked goods but then again who wouldn't when it comes to the Hummingbird Bakery! My goal is to try all of their delicious flavours! Already being well into completing my goal, I figured I had to try their red velevet cupcake which I've been ogling for a while now. My conclusion is  a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Next up is something called a whoopie pie, I'm drooling already!

Furry Friend

Snapped! How adorable is this? Although I am usually the one to shy away from animal friends, I've started conquering my fear and have befriended this cutie. One step at a time and soon I won't have any fears left. Invincibility here I come, nothing's going to stop me!

At The Boulangerie

Stopped by the authentic Italian Princi Bakery, which provides amazing foods where wholemeal organic, stone-ground flours are used for bread and natural fermentation. The breads are to die for and don't even get me started on the pâtisserie (pastries/sweets) section! I also heard a rumor that the bakery is open 24-hours with freshly baked goods. Perhaps the perfect place to do some late night grocery shopping. Yum!

Stik

Guess what I found while out and about? Graffiti artist Stik appears to have been hard at work painting the town with his adorable stick figures. If my count is correct, this is the third piece of work that I have found spontaneously scattered around London. I absolutely love it! I'm always as happy and excited when I bump into one of his works. Cute and comic, brightens up my day.

Snog

Nutritious but naughty! Went to the funky and delicious frozen yogurt shop Snog on Soho street to get my fill of a slightly healthier option than ice cream.

Yum! The toppings are plenty and not all healthy. My favorite combination is the plain yogurt mixed with fresh rasberries, blueberries, and strawberries. It's seriously beyond delicious but for my next trip I'm honestly contemplating trying a lethal combination of brownies and cookies!

Welcome to the Kings Cross Campus

Welcome my darlings to the absolutely amazing Kings Cross campus which is fresh spanking new and just opened! Love! Stopped by to take an induction into one of the largest resource libraries in Europe, the new Central Saint Martins library.

How exciting! I may not have classes at the new campus but at least I get to enjoy the lovely facilities when not working my little fingers to the bone. If everything works out though it won't be too long before I'll be taking classes here too! Wish me luck!

The building is a beautiful mix of modernity with touches of the previous/original building. There is still some construction underway so it will be super interesting to see the final outcome up and running.

Postmodernism at Victoria & Albert

Cinzia Ruggeri, Homage to Lévi-Strauss Dress, Autumn/Winter 1983-4

Fasten your seatbelts because it's time to take a trip down memory lane. At least that was the feel when attending the exhibition Postmodernism, Style and Subversion 1970-1990 at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The pop culture theme was extremely strong almost borderline kitsch, but then again who can blame them as it was part of the trend/era. The postmodernism movement acted as a response to the perceived blandness, hostility, and Utopianism of the Modern movement.

Frank Schreiner for Stiletto, Consumer's Rest Chair, 1990

The exhibition featured a lot of technical design developments that were happening during this movement in mainly architecture, furniture design, as well as advertising, music and a slight inclusion of fashion garments. It was an extremely interesting exhibition to see as it gave a lot of insight into various aspects of what it must have been like at that time. A favorite piece of mine would definitely have to be Frank Schreiner's 'Consumer's Rest Chair', what a neat idea! Who wouldn't love to go shopping in one of these, I'd be seated like a queen!

Hyde Park

Summer is now over and fall is coming. I can't believe we're already in October, how time passes quickly! Spent a lovely day in Hyde Park working on an assignment for college.

Who needs Paris when you can find small oasis of your own? Instead of taking a walk around the Seine, I strolled along the lake here in Hyde Park which had beautiful white swans floating around. Beat that! Unfortunately, I'm still dreaming of going but I found an adorable café here which I intend to visit, Coco Momo. Exciting! We'll see how it goes sipping coffee all day and if I'm truly cut out to eat croissants. For now though, I will have to make do with the fabulous London.

Liverpool Street

The Broadgate Tower

Spent a very cold afternoon on Liverpool Street, art hunting around the tall office buildings of the Broadgate Estate.

Xavier Corbero, 1988

Most of the art that I found were very architectural, which turned out to go extremely well with the formal office building surroundings. I especially like the rough, raw materials that were used in creating each art piece such as the rocks, marble, steel, and etc.

Love! These adorable bunnies popped up as I was strolling along Bishops Square. What a wonderfully cute surprise I found!

A true story about me and London would certainly have to be that me and the city pigeons do not get along. It's them or me! Who remembers my duck incident? Yep, it's that bad...

Despite the chilly day, I got a lovely view of some epic and exciting architecture!

Wool Modern

Julien Macdonald, Autumn/Winter 2010/11

Stopped by Wool Modern, an exhibition which showcased the very best in fashion and design with a focus on wool. The exhibition acted as a reminder to the world that wool is the fibre of choice for the most exciting and cutting edge designers and decorators. "It is used to inspire the next generaion of talent to embrace wool in their own work"- Nicholas Coleridge (Vice Chairman, The Campaign for Wool).

The exhibition was most appropriate as we are currently doing a textiles unit here at Central Saint Martins. What I have found is that there are so many exciting exhibitions going on here all the time, and that it can sometimes be difficult to have time for them all. Either way, it's great for gathering inspiration and find new ways in which you can execute and manipulate your own work!

Louise Gray, Autumn/Winter 2010/11

Working with such organic materials as wool, the exhibition showcased some of the most diverse, sustainable and desirable designs with natural fibres. There was a great range in the exhibition from Yves Saint Laurent haute couture to more wearable garments and ready-to-wear.

Nasir Mazhar, July 2011

Sculpted, knitted, tailored, draped, embroidered or woven, the unifying thread is the remarkable use of wool in each piece. "I think it's always so easy and kind to work with (wool), everything about it is comforting"- Nasir Mazhar.
