Pygmalion

Reow!!!! Does anyone know the story of Pygmalion from Greek mythology? It goes something like this: "a king of Cyprus who fashioned an ivory statue of a beautiful woman and loved it so deeply that in answer to his prayer Aphrodite gave it life". This is my latest art concoction! It's an oil painting of the ever so gorgeous statue of David who was originally sculpted by the great Michelangelo. What do you think? Should I switch my career to full time artist?

Stephen Jones

Darlings, I have just been fortunately blessed with a fabulous copy of the Stephen Jones coffee table book! Exciting! I've been studying up on the delicate art form of millinery and even searched up some information via podcasts on iTunes. I absolutely adore Stephen's fun, quirky designs; you never know what's up next. J'adore!

Here is a sneak peek inside the book, enjoy!

Trunk Xu

The Trunk Xu presentation was really exciting to attend, but more so his amazing photographs. He is a famous Chinese fashion photographer whose photos have been featured in magazines such as Harpers Bazaar, Vision and Vogue to name a few. There were far too many gorgeous photos to post, so I've selected a few of my favorites.

Me and my darling new friend Trunk Xu

Enjoy the photos!

Flower Power In Winter Times

Is there anything better than a fresh bouquet of flowers when the weather is down? They can really help brighten up your day. Today is yet another day where Beijing is covered with a white blanket, I can tell I need more color in my life. I'm not going to let the weather stop me though, I'm heading to a presentation at Ullens gallery in 798 Art Distric later today.

If you're sick and tired of all of your vases, try something new. I love this Paul Smith shopping bag and thought it would go perfect with the flowers. What do you think?

Elle

Went to Park Life Shopping Centre at the Beijing Yintai Centre to check out the Elle celebration event. I am sad to say that I've become rather spoiled due to the many amazing exhibitions that I've seen here and found the Elle event slightly disappointing. The event was less of an exhibition but rather a combination of small, randomly placed installations that were difficult to find in the large shopping centre.

There were multiple displays that were videos flashing years worth of Elle magazine covers. It was fun to see how many I recognized however, I was expecting a more informative presentation that gave some insight into the magazine and publishing process. Elle is an amazing magazine that puts together photoshoots featuring the latest designers, models and photographers, carries interesting interviews and spreads covering the most fascinating people in the fashion industry. I wanted a glimpse of that and thought the exhibition didn't do the magazine justice.

These were some of the other displays at the luxury shopping centre although not part of Elle that caught my attention. I loved the birds, but then again I do have a weakness for feathers!

My love for the Hemès display windows may seem endless but they have such talent for choosing simple, elegant displays.

Winter Has Begun

Funny because the other day I was commenting on a photo that I saw with a completely snowed down Sweden and today that became a reality here too. I woke up this morning to find a white carpet over Beijing but luckily I don't have exams today so I can curl up inside. Tomorrow I have Chinese exams the entire day so we'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Momiji

The latest member of my Momiji tribe is the fabulous message doll 'dancing girl'. She matches my room to perfection!

My trio is officially completed! She will join the ranks of 'happy' and 'pixie'.

Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year! It is now the year of the rabbit. The fireworks have been going off non-stop for a week straight now. Don't get me wrong they're gorgeous, but as I have exams this week it's not the best timing. All of Beijing is decorated with these fabulous little red lanters. Seriously, I think they should be up all year round! They look so pretty when they're lit up at night!
